"The Massacre of Black Wall Street" is a ten page story I illustrated for The Atlantic magazine. The project was paid for by HBO. This true event in American history was also depicted in episode 1 of HBO's "Watchmen" series.
This 15 minute time-lapse video shows my drawing process for page 1 of the story that was published on The Atlantic's website. The actual drawing, which was drawn on an iPad Pro 10.5 using the Procreate app, took about 14 hours. In this video, you'll be able to see how I start with laying out the composition, set up perspective grids, and digitally ink the finished line art. The linework was then colored by Marcelo Maiolo before being published.
